The University of Cadiz (UCA) is a public university founded in 1979 and situated in the southern-most province of Spain, with shores bathed by the Mediterranean and the Atlantic. Closely linked to the surrounding area, it has 4 campuses located in Cadiz, Puerto Real, Jerez and the Bay of Algeciras.
The university has 20,000 students, 15 centres and 45 departments, staffed by over 1600 lecturers and 700 administrative staff. The UCA offers degree programmes in most study areas, all of which have received positive evaluations, and has a wide range of postgraduate programmes, including over 30 masters degrees and doctorates.
Over 170 registered groups participate in research, development and innovation programmes, many of a recognised level of excellence in the areas of Humanities, Social Sciences, Pure and Applied Sciences, Engineering and Health Sciences.
The UCA has outstanding library facilities, rated among the best in the country, and has been awarded the European Seal of Excellence EFQM +400.
The virtual campus of the UCA offers more than 1200 modules on-line, promoting the use of new audiovisual communication and learning tools and methods.
The University Modern Languages Centre offers courses in many different languages, there is an extensive programme of cultural events throughout the year, a wide range of sports and the opportunity to participate in solidarity and volunteer activities.
The international vocation of the UCA can be seen in its past activities and the strategic plans for the future, defining itself as a welcoming university in an environment open to the dialogue between cultures: a university open to the world.
