A varied, high quality range of academic offerings
University Lumière Lyon 2 offers bachelor's degree courses combining bidisciplinarity in the first year allowing the student to "mature" his or her choice of courses.
University Lumière Lyon 2 has implemented the Bachelor's degree - Master's degree - Doctorate scheme (LMD) along with the system of European credits.
The scientific potential of Lyon 2 is carried out through its academic offering in three main fields of studies with 25 majors at the bachelor level, 48 Bachelor's degrees (Licence) and 107 specialities at the Master's level.

Since its creation University Lumière Lyon 2 has structured its collective research, a strong element of its identity. Its scientific activity is organized around research centers, federative structures and doctoral schools.
It is engaged in the PRES (Centre of research and higher education) of Lyon called Université de Lyon, as one of its founding members. This results in a common identifier, for all the institutions of higher education which form Université de Lyon, for the signature of scientific publications and the awarding of the doctorate degree.

All students can spend one or two semesters in a foreign partner university on a study programme. They remain enrolled at the Université Lumière Lyon 2 and are exempted from any registration fees in their host university. Their experience abroad is validated as part of their Lyon 2 diploma. In cases of partnerships proposing joint courses, the student also obtain the diploma from the foreign university. Mobility includes the possibility of placements abroad.
University Lumière Lyon 2 students accepted on a mobility programme obtain grants either from the Rhône-Alpes regional council or a ERASMUS grant if they attend a university in the European Union and Turkey.
University Lumière Lyon 2 offers 5 double Bachelor's degrees and 17 double or joint Master's degrees delivered with international partner universities. These degrees can be supported financially by UFA (Franco-German university), UFI (Franco-italien university), the state Department for foreign Affairs, the Rhône-Alpes regional council, the European commission.
